- DAY 1:
Arrival in Cortona, wonderful Tuscan medieval city, surrounded
by Etruscan walls, which narrow streets, cafes and typical
italian shops are a little jewels for painters, photographers
and Italian lovers. Accommodation in an elegant, peaceful and
finely restored Monastery-Hotel built in the XIII century and
located in a superb position from which you can admire the
Chiana valley. Plunged into olives and Cyprus trees
monastery-hotel offers all the facilities of a three star
superior hotel. Its wonderful Tuscan Renaissance Restaurant
offers a typical healthy cuisine. Accommodation and dinner.
- DAY 2:
Buffet breakfast. Sightseeing of Cortona. This enchanting
Tuscan city will totally absorbed you. Free time to stroll
around, to taste the world known Chianti wine or to buy
something from the local shops. We proceed to Arezzo,
birthplace of the famous Italian writer Petrarca. Guided visit
to discover the world known treasures of the city. Free time
to enjoy the charm of Cortona or just to have a rest in the
beautiful garden of the monastery. Dinner and overnight.
- DAY 3:
Buffet breakfast. Departure to Siena. On the way, stop at the
famous Abbey of Monte Oliveto Maggiore with its enchanting
charm. Arrival in Siena, perhaps after Florence, the most
famous city of Tuscany and guided tour. Piazza del Campo
square will fascinate you and its medieval narrow street will
plunge you in another time when the Italian chevaliers, Queens
and Kings fought for their feuds and lovers. Return to Cortona.
Dinner and overnight.
- DAY 4:
Buffet breakfast. Departure to Assisi and guided visit of the
city birthplace of St. Francesco. Wonderful medieval city, set
on a hill, where in each street you can feel the charm of an
ancient past. In the afternoon visit of Perugia, another
medieval jewel of Italy with its wonderful palaces, fountains
and museums. Return to Cortona. Dinner and overnight.
- DAY 5:
Buffet breakfast. Departure to Florence and guided visit of
the city. Florence, built on the Arno's banks, is considered
the Queen of Renaissance and you will have the opportunity to
see its world wide famous art treasures: the Dome, the Giotto
Tower, the Baptistery, the Signoria Square, the church of
Santa Croce and the bridges over the Arno river. Return to
Cortona. Dinner and overnight.
- DAY 6:
Buffet breakfast. Departure to Sant'Antimo (south of
Montalcino) an listening to the monks chanting. The Abby is
very famous, also if not known to everyone, for the genuine
"Gregorian Chant", only human voice without music. It is known
as the "The singing stone" for its particular travertine
marble its nave is built up. Visit of Montalcino and tasting
of the world famous "Brunello" wine. We will proceed towards
St. Gimignano the medieval town with its hundreds towers. Time
free to stroll around and enjoy the visit of this magnificent
city. Return to Cortona. Dinner and overnight.
- DAY 7:
Buffet breakfast. Departure from Cortona to discover some
other famous and beautiful medieval and renaissance cities of
Umbria like San Sepolcro, Città di Castello and
Gubbio. You
will have the time to taste the famous olive oils and wines.
On the way back, you will admire the wonderful nature of
Umbria, a landscape which inspired a lot of Saints and
Artists. In the evening Special Farewell Dinner in the
Monastery inspired to the ancient past of these two
magnificent Italian regions.
- DAY 8:
Buffet breakfast. Departure day or, if you wish, prosecution
of the Tour with the discovery of the beauty of Italy visiting
Rome, Venice, Milan, etc.. lodging in other wonderful
monasteries-hotels.
